Bowen Therapy in the Bay of Plenty

Michelle Day-Williams is a practicing Bowen Therapist helping people, horses and small animals. Michelle has always been involved with horses, having grown up in Australia and spending most of her school holidays and later working holidays on aunts and uncles large cattle properties, chasing cows and doing whatever other farm duties had to be done.  Hopefully most of these involved sitting astride a horse.

Whilst a Bowen practitioner came to work on her horse, a suggestion was made that perhaps her groaning husband would benefit from the Techniques ability to help the body re-align strained muscles and tendons and seeing her husband get off the treatment table with a rapidly improved posture sealed the deal!

About that same time, Michelles husband  was asked by his then employer to go to England for a couple of years to work, so they went and there Michelle undertook courses and became qualified in Human and Equine Bowen Therapy at the European College of Bowen Therapy, qualifying in late 2003 ,with distinction, after her 2 year course.

She and her husband have now returned to live on their lifestyle block in sunny Tauranga, with their two horses and two Great Dane dogs where Michelle is now available as your Bowen Therapist. Feel Free to Call 075431345 or MOB: 021543173 or e-mail for a Therapy session. .

What is Bowen Therapy?

A straightforward, no-nonsense remedial therapy that is non-intrusive, gentle and very effective. The Bowen Technique affects the body in ways which promote healing, pain relief and recovery of energy. The Bowen technique was pioneered by Thomas Ambrose Bowen, born in 1916 in Geelong, Australia. After working in different labouring jobs as a young man, he developed a great interest in massage and body work and spent time observing football trainers and others involved with sports. Such was the success of the Bowen Technique that when interviewed by a Parliamentary committee in 1978 Thomas Bowen stated under oath that he treated about 280 patients per week (with the help of an assistant and receptionist) - an incredible 13000 patients per year, 88% of whom only required 2 or 3 treatments!
